127 - A Snapshot of Cabin I, Joy Camps | Photograph | Wisconsin Historical Society
Outdoor group portrait of older campers, with counselors, posed in front of a camp building. The girls in the front row are holding a sign that reads: "A Snapshot, Cabin I — '50." Sue Ann Hackett, the person who donated these photographs, is in the front row, second from the right. Original caption notes: "The oldest of the three Cabin groups which make up Deerpath Lodge for older girls, those of junior and senior high school age. Our flexible, non-schooly program appeals to girls of ALL ages, but especially to those who are older and able to think for themselves. The days are too short for them to do all the things their advanced skills and interests make possible for them to achieve. Many of these girls will soon be going to colleges, where they will find their camp experience and associations of great value and enjoyment. Loyal and enthusiastic campers, these girls return home after camp healthy and fit, ready for the strenuous months ahead." Back of photograph carries stamp: "The Joy Camps, Hazelhurst — Wisconsin" and "Minocqua Photo Shop, Victor A. Hendrickson, Minocqua, Wis."
