Morey's Flying Billboard

Howard Morey posing in an airplane that advertised Pennco Oil, his distributorship of Waco airplanes, and his flying school. Two women sit in front of him. Painted below his cockpit are the words: "Learn to fly with Morey." His diverse operations were typical of most commercial airline operations at the time. Because of the oil company support, Morey's airport was first known as Pennco Field. Later, because of a partnership with the Royal Transit Co., it became known as Royal Airport. The association with Royal was an unsuccessful attempt to establish a commuter airline between Madison and Chicago. |
