045 - Joy Camps Boat Fleet
View from shoreline from pier of campers in boats on the water. Rowing crews and kayaks are in the foreground. Original caption notes that this image offers a sampling of the many different kinds of boats the girls learned how to use: rowboats, kayaks, including the Folbot variety; sailboats, paddle boats, canoes, including an Indian birch bark canoe (many of these are in the background). There is a diving board on the end of the pier. The caption also notes: "...with justified pride we can boast of the excellent instruction and the resulting careful preparation for participation in all water sports made possible by our outstanding corps of waterfront counselors. Our water sports program, under the personal direction of Miss Camp, is recognized as one of the best in camps for girls in this country and Canada." |
