Anthony Fokker was a Dutch-born airplane builder who manufactured combat planes for the Germans during World War I. He is credited with inventing a method of firing forward-mounted machine guns through spinning propellers. After coming to the United States in the early 1920s Fokker repeated his success by building the reliable Fokker Tri-motor that was used for many record long distance flights. |
