Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in the motion picture, "The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle" (RKO, 1939). Although Astaire and Rogers were ideally cast to portray the glamorous Castles, the "Story of Vernon and Irene Castle" was one of the least successful films that the pair made together in part because of the necessity of depicting Vernon's tragic death as a flight instructor during World War I. |
