View of the cockpit as Lt. Col. Joseph Bourassa and co-pilot Leonard Dereszynski of the 440th Tactical Airlift Wing of the Air Force Reserve at General Mitchell Field prepare to shut down a C-119 for the last time. Along with the other C-119s assigned to the 440th, this plane had been flown to Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona where it was to be scrapped. The pilot told the reporter covering this story that he had flown the same two-engine, unpressurized model during the Korean War. |
