Racine — Air City

The letterhead stationery of a Racine economic development committee reads: "Air City, Where the Air-Minded Live," The design shows airplanes and even a dirigible leading to a bright new economic future for the city. During the 1920s aviation and aviation facilities were linked to economic development, and "air-mindedness" was an important civic attribute for businessmen and politicians. |
