Two sixth plate ambrotypes of Charles Minton Baker, (on left) (1804-1872) and his second wife, (on right) Elizabeth Holt Baker. Baker lived in Lake Geneva, and was a lawyer, member of the first state constitutional convention, railroad director, and Civil War draft commissioner. The portraits were taken individually and both subjects are seated with their hands in their laps. Mrs. Baker is wearing a bonnet that covers the back of her head, and has the front of her hair styled in ringlets. Hand-coloring on cheeks. |
