Social Security's 13th Anniversary
The 13th anniversary of the Social Security Act of August 14, 1935 is observed by its first Executive Director, Frank Bane, (left) now Director of the Council of State Governments, and Arthur J. Altmeyer, Commissioner, who was appointed a member of the former Social Security Board when it was formed in 1935. Both Bane and Altmeyer addressed staff members of the Social Security Administration this week at Federal Security Agency headquarters in Washington, D.C. |
