Lowell Jenkins, Athlete and Sculptor
Lowell "Gooch" Jenkins was a 250-pound tackle on the University of Wisconsin’s football team, but he was also a skilled art student. After graduating, he became a nationally renowned sculptor in Chicago and then San Francisco. He moved back to Racine in the 1970s, and worked with the city on revitalizing its downtown. In addition to his artistic talent, he was a successful counselor for the Wisconsin Substance Abuse Center. |
