At left, the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet; at right, a "Katzenjammer," a seated man with a cat beside him and his foot, swollen with gout, resting on a stool while a monkey (above the door) tickles his head with a head of barley. The room was eventually destroyed by fire.
DESCRIPTION
Two men sitting at desks in the editorial room of the Milwaukee Journal. The room was decorated by a newspaper staff artist. Stewart, political editor (right) and Arthur Weld who wrote under the pen-name "Chappie," at their desks. Presented by Miss Mary E. Stewart of Milwaukee in 1912.
