Waukesha CAP

Parade drill of the Waukesha County unit of the Civil Air Patrol. Because World War II ended general aviation, male and female pilots who were either too old or too young for active duty often volunteered for the Civil Air Patrol. It was a way to continue flying while contributing to the war effort. The Waukesha CAP was one of the first units to organize. Their mission was to recruit and train cadets and to carry out search and rescue. The CAP continues as an official civilian auxiliary of the Air Force. |
