Wisconsin Thematic Panel 370-376
The earth is never still, but speaks her lovers lying twined among the roots of grasses, lying long stretched out from hill to hill There where a moistness glistens rests one who freely gave And on the slope is deeper spread the wisdom of his face There where the land is dimpled was a simple kindness done Renewed each rain and lingering, a fame among the flowers The whole expanse is body, rolling thighs and upland arms Containing all the people, all the lives turned into one The restive forest edge is witness to the fingerings of time accounting shapes from satisfactions, pressing whispers into leaf In the valley's palm read lines of genealogy beneath Let it be The warm composure, all year long, in every hand So near the best of endings Is all our doubts can understand |
