Four Clerks
Four indigenous women pose in front of a store on Tutuila in American Samoa. They are all wearing dresses. A woman and children can be seen in the background on the left and right. Robert Doyle wrote a caption for this image although it was not published at that time, "These Samoan girls are clerks in general store at Pago Pago operated by B.F. Kneubuhl, native of Burlington, Iowa, who came to Pago Pago in 1907 and married a Samoan woman." |
