Exhibition Baseball Game on Kwajalein Island
The batter swings at an exhibition baseball game on a Naval Base on Kwajalein Island of the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific. Both teams had Big League players drawn from navy ranks. The Navy Base declared a half-holiday to allow the men to attend. In the foreground spectators peer through the chicken wire fence behind home plate. On the right are more spectators, and in the distance is an airplane and several buildings near the shoreline. |
