Names, (left to right) are Private First Class Thomas Greatorex of East Corinth, Maine, Sergeant Nick Falcone of Bangor, Pennsylvania and Private Emery Seidel of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Hills and trees are in the background. Robert Doyle wrote a caption for this image although it was not published at that time, "Jolt for Jerry is served up by Private Emery Seidel, 31, (address), shown putting shell in breech of 105 millimeter howitzer outside Brest, France. Others in gun crew are (see above)." |

Robert Doyle was a civilian war correspondent for the Milwaukee Journal during World War II, covering the experiences of Wisconsin troops in the 32nd "Red Arrow" Division, an infantry division of the United States Army National Guard. The "Red Arrow" Division consisted mainly of soldiers from Wisconsin and Michigan. |
