Navigation Instruments on an American Warship
Navigation instruments on an American cruiser were checked by Lieutenant Commander Leonard Meyer of Appleton. Three other crew members are nearby. The cruiser took part in the heavy bombardment of Cape Gloucester, New Britain, New Guinea (present day Papua New Guinea), before the marines landed. In the distance are two ships, and beyond is smoke from the bombardment near the shoreline. |
