THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!

Enjoy a delicious hearth-cooked meal prepared with your own hands in the historic Wade House Stagecoach Hotel. From wild rice soup and pork ragout to a Yankee pot roast served alongside brethren cheddar bread and apple pandowdy, you’ll cook delicious and authentic 1800s-style meals over wood-burning stoves just as Wade House matriarch Betsey Wade did more than 150 years ago. Once food is ready, sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labor during a family-style dinner in the elegant and lovely Wade House dining room.

Cost:

$75/person per meal

Guests must be age 13 or older to attend.

Advanced registration is required by the Thursday prior to the event.

Society members  receive a 10% discount

Meal Themes:

Wisconsin Winter: Includes wild rice soup, pork ragout, maple glazed sweet potatoes, baked macaroni and cheese, buttermilk biscuits, applesauce with lemon, and nutmeg, and cranberry apple cobbler.

Yankee: Includes corn chowder, Yankee pot roast with vegetables, ragout of French beans or succotash, brandied cranberry sauce, brethren cheddar bread, apple pandowdy, and Muster Day gingerbread.

German: Includes potato leek soup, sauerbraten (spiced beef roast), spaetzle (German noodles), Dutch beans/carrots, Pennsylvania style sauerkraut, apple bread, and krumkake (sour cream coffee cake).

Know Before You Go:

Attendees should park in the lot across the street from the Wade House Stagecoach Inn or along the road next to the Inn, not by the Visitor Center. Bathrooms are available in a separate building. This event will take place regardless of weather unless snow prohibits access to the event. Access to the Wade House Stagecoach Inn is limited. Guests must navigate three stairs to access the Inn. Guests with additional mobility needs are encouraged to contact the site directly at 920-526-3271 or wadehouse@wisconsinhistory.org.

About the Location

Explore the horse-powered world that existed before planes, cars, and railroads at Wade House. Here the golden era of carriages lives on forever, with historic structures and a state-of-the-art museum highlighting all its wonders. The site features the stagecoach hotel built and owned by Sylvanus and Betsey Wade, the first European settlers of Greenbush. The site is also home to a blacksmith shop, sawmill, and the Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum, which houses Wisconsin’s largest collection of carriages and wagons.
