About the Event

On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond. The Wisconsin Historical Society is proud to feature events hosted by our local affiliates and other community partners as part of the statewide America250 initative.

The phrase "all men are created equal" in the Declaration of Independence was revolutionary, inspiring independence movements worldwide. This exhibition shows how the Declaration motivates Americans and others to pursue equality and self-determination. This historical display provided by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History will be on view at South Wood County Historical Museum.
