Hunt, W. Ben 1888 – 1970 | Wisconsin Historical Society
Artist, educator, author, b. Greenfield, Wisconsin; settled in Hales Corners; in 1924 built a 16x28-foot log cabin studio for prototypes and illustrations for writings. Under pen names, Hunt wrote over 750 articles for Boy’s Life, 1942-1964, and over 20 books including Rustic Construction, 1939; Ben Hunt’s Whittling Book, 1945; Indian Crafts and Lore, 1954. The Boy Scouts of America awarded him its Silver Antelope Award in 1948; his cabin was registered as a national historical place in 2008.
