Lutheran clergyman, b. Moland, Telemarken, Norway. He migrated to the U.S. in 1854. He attended Luther College, Decorah, Iowa (1862-1864), and graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis (C.T., 1867). He was Lutheran pastor at Winchester, Wisconsin (1867-1875), at Sheboygan (1875- 1881), and in 1880 founded the village of Wittenberg. He was pastor at Wittenberg from 1881 until his death, and also founded an orphans' and old people's home (1882), and Bethany Indian Mission (1884). Who's Who among Pastors in . . . Norw. Luth.
