Holt, Frank Oscar 1883 - 1948
educator, dean Univ. of Wisconsin extension division, b. Janesville. He graduated from the Univ. of Wisconsin (Ph.B., 1907; Ph.M., 1925). He was superintendent of schools at Sun Prairie (1907- 1911), Edgerton (1911-1920), and Janesville (1920-1927). In 1927 he came to the Univ. of Wisconsin as registrar and director of the bureau of guidance, a position that he held until 1935. He served as dean of the university's extension division (1935-1944), and was director of the department of public service for the university (1944- 1948). In these capacities he was instrumental in enlarging the scope and program of the extension division and expanding the university's program of service to the state. Who's Who in Amer., 25 (1948); F.
