Hall, Arnold Bennett 1881 - 1936
professor of political science and law, college president, author, b. Franklin, Ind. He graduated from Franklin College (A.B., 1904) and the Univ. of Chicago (J.D., 1907), and was admitted to the Indiana bar in 1907. He taught at the Univ. of Chicago (1907-1909) and at Northwestern Univ. (1909-1910). In 1910 he came to the Univ. of Wisconsin as instructor in political science, was assistant professor (1911-1914), associate professor (1914-1921), and from 1921 to 1926 was professor of political science and associate professor of law. Hall was president of the Univ. of Oregon (1926-1932), and from 1932 until his death was director of the Institute for Government Research, Brookings Institute, Washington, D.C. He was the author of several books on political science and international law, and was a member of numerous professional and honorary societies. Who's Who in Amer., 18 (1934); Natl. Cyclopaedia Amer.
