Frankfurth, William 1829 - 1891 | Wisconsin Historical Society
industrialist, b. Gudesberg, Germany. He migrated to the U.S. at the age of 20, arriving in Milwaukee in 1850. After various kinds of employment, including work for his later competitor, the J. Pritzlaff Company, he established his own hardware firm in 1861. In 1875 it was incorporated as a wholesale house and became an important Milwaukee business. Frankfurth was an incorporator of the Milwaukee Turnverein Association, a founder of the German-English Academy, and a member of the first public library board. H. L.
