music director, composer, b. near Gobles, Mich. He moved to Platteville in 1900 as head of the music department of Platteville State Normal School (1900-1925). In 1906, with Mrs. Clara Kyle Grindell, he wrote and published the first of a series of children's songbooks, as well as operettas and solos. The books, which later included one book each for junior high school and Sunday school and six for elementary grades, became known nationally and internationally. M.
