Bull, Stephen 1822 - 1913
manufacturer, businessman, b. Scipio, N.Y. He moved to Racine in 1845, to Spring Prairie in 1847, and in 1857 returned to Racine where he was employed in the threshing-machine works of his brother-in-law, Jerome I. Case (q.v.). In 1863 he became a partner in the firm, and, upon the organization of the J. I. Case Threshing Machine Company in 1880, he became vice-president and general manager. He was president of the company (1891-1897), and was also president of the Milwaukee Harvester Co. for 20 years until it was sold to International Harvester in 1897. A leading businessman in Racine, he helped to organize several other manufacturing and business establishments. His son, FRANK KELLOGG BULL, b. Spring Prairie, Walworth County, graduated from Racine College in 1878, and was employed in various departments of the threshing-machine works to learn the business. He became secretary of the J. I. Case Threshing Machine Company in 1881, treasurer in 1896, president in 1897, and chairman of the board in 1915. He was also connected with many other Racine businesses. Natl. Cyclopaedia Amex.
