Buckstaff, John Jr. 1823 - 1900 | Wisconsin Historical Society

lumberman, businessman, b. Dumbarton, New Brunswick, Canada. He first moved to Wisconsin in 1849, but returned to New Brunswick after one year. In 1853 he settled permanently in Oshkosh. In 1865 he opened a lumber mill with his brothers, George, James, and Robert, under the name of Buckstaff Brothers. In 1872 J. Chase bought out fames Buckstaff's interest and the firm became Buckstaff Brothers and Chase. In 1882 John, George, and Robert Buckstaff, together with Daniel C. Buckstaff and R. H. Edwards, founded the Buckstaff-Edwards Company, a firm engaged in the manufacture of chairs and caskets. John Buckstaff was president of this company from its incorporation (1899) until his death. P.
