paper manufacturer, b. Appleton. He graduated from Lawrence College (1893), and spent one year at the Univ. of Chicago. From 1894 to 1905 he worked for various paper companies in Chicago and Wisconsin, and in 1905 founded the Charles S. Boyd Paper Co. in Kaukauna. In 1907 he moved his operations to Appleton, changed the firm's name to the Appleton Coated Paper Co., and served as president until his death. He was a director of the First National Bank of Appleton and the Employers Mutual Insurance Co. of Wausau, and was a trustee of Lawrence College (1915-1938, 1941-1952).
