Harlan Page Bird, a former member of the Wisconsin senate and public benefactor. Born Aug 2, 1838, in East Smithfield, PA. Died Nov 24, 1912, in Wausaukee, WI. Enlisted in the 12th WI infantry during the Civil Warand left the service July 16, 1865. Connected with several lumber companies. He organized the Bird & Wells Lumber Co.. He was president of the Wausaukee State Bank. Elected state senator, 1st District in 1902, and reelected 1906. He aided the state park and forestry acts.
