The 50th regiment of Infantry was organized at Camp Randall, Madison, Wisconsin, and left the State by companies in the latter part of March and early April 1865, proceeding to St. Louis, Mo. Subsequenty was moved to Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, and then to Fort rice, Dakota Territory.
Company E was ordered to Madison and mustered out on April 18, 1866. In the latter part of June the regiment returned to the State and was mustered out of service of the United States and disbanded.
