The northwestern branch of the United States home for disabled soldiers is beautifully situated on a series of hills west of Milwaukee. It has [in 1906] about 2,700 inmates. The hospital accommodates 400. The beautiful grounds, laid out as a park, make the surroundings very attractive. It has a library of 11,500 volumes and 87 newspapers and 24 magazines are taken. All honorably discharged soldiers and sailors of the War of Secession, or any war in which the country has been engaged, who are incapable of earning a livelihood, are admitted.
