Villa Louis Field Trips
Step into the Lives of a Wisconsin Dynasty
When you walk through the doors of Villa Louis, you step into the life of one of Wisconsin’s most historic families – The Dousmans. Located on the beautiful banks of the mighty Mississippi River, this National Historic Landmark offers a panorama of Wisconsin history, from the first peoples who lived on this land, to fur traders, to the War of 1812, through the splendor of the Victorian era.
Programs are designed for students in grades K-12. All programs must include a 1:20 adult to student ratio.

Know before you go!
Villa Louis field trips can take place in indoor and outdoor locations. Please dress for the weather and bring a reusable water bottle. This tour involves hills, stairs, and uneven ground at times. Villa Louis Field Trip
Put on your historical thinking caps and get ready to explore hundreds of years of history in one very special place. Students will tour a late 19th century Victorian mansion and grounds, have an interactive 18th century fur trade experience, and head outdoors for a history hike scavenger hunt.
Each field trip lasts 2.5 hours. Villa Louis staff are also available to visit your class to help you and your students prepare for your field trip.

Want to add a special experience to your field trip? Add an hour to Cook in the Villa Louis Kitchen! Villa Louis staff will bring learners into the historic kitchen and work with them to whip up a treat. This add-on is available for an additional $2 per person.

Victorian Home for the Holidays
Experience the magic of a Victorian holiday celebration at Villa Louis. Sit in the parlor to hear holiday music being played on the family Steinway concert grand while holiday treats await you in the historic kitchen. Each field trip lasts 90 minutes. Recommended 1:16 adult to student ratio. 60 people max.
