Moratorium on New Microfilm Lab Work

Moratorium on New Microfilm Lab Work | Wisconsin Historical Society

Effective August 1st, 2024, John Friend, Microfilm Lab Supervisor, has retired from the Wisconsin Historical Society. Due to his retirement, Digital Services has placed a moratorium on all new external requests for microfilm digitization and duplication work until a new supervisor is hired.

Duration: August 2024 -January 2025

The scope of activities affected include:

New requests for digitization of microfilmed newspapers, archival collections, and library materials

New requests for the duplication of microfilm

New requests for the creation of new microfilm reels

Previously committed work

Digital Services will prioritize the completion of previously committed and paid work, including federal grant work, outstanding reference requests, and internal requests.

Opportunity for renewal

During this moratorium, Digital Services will reevaluate and refine workflows, technology, and staffing for the Microfilm Lab.
