Old World Wisconsin Announces Two Flashback Field Trips for Adults

The popular historic attraction offers two nostalgic evenings for kids at heart

Eagle, Wis. -- Wouldn’t you like to be a kid again? Now, you can be at Old World Wisconsin’s Flashback Field Trips. Taking place on July 27 and Aug. 24 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., this after-hours, adults-only event features all those historic activities remembered from the nostalgic field trips of your youth – from blacksmithing to high-wheel tricycle riding – plus new experiences and the chance to enjoy a refreshing adult beverage from Old World Wisconsin’s Brewhouse.

“So many of our guests tell me they haven’t visited Old World Wisconsin since their 4th-grade field trip,” said Dan Freas, Old World Wisconsin director. “We hope these special evenings will bring back fond memories, reacquaint folks with old world traditions and bring out the kid in all of us.”

The 600-acre regional history attraction, featuring 60 authentic 19th-century buildings collected from around the state, offers a variety of activities throughout the grounds. Guests can cook up a historic recipe in the Four Mile House, watch the blacksmith at work, ride a high-wheel tricycle, play a game of graces and hoop and stick on the village grounds, visit heritage breed animals and listen to interpreters tell historic stories.

The evening, priced at $65 per person, includes a gourmet boxed dinner with a glass of wine or can of beer.  The menu, an adult version of a kid’s sack lunch, features a choice of a gourmet peanut butter and homemade jelly sandwich or a ham and cheese sandwich on pretzel bun, along with chips, cookies, fruit cup and soda.

Advance registration is required; guests must be 18+ to attend and 21+ to be served alcohol. Wisconsin Historical Society members receive a ten percent discount.
