Greenbush, WI. – Wade House, one of the Wisconsin Historical Society’s historic sites, has announced it will offer several day camp options this summer for students entering the third through eighth grade in the 2022-2023 school year. Each of the three summer camp offerings runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with pick-up and drop-off at the Wade House Visitor Center. Campers should arrive with a packed lunch, bug spray, and sunscreen.

June 20-24 & July 25-29: Pioneer Summer Camp

Experience pioneer life and learn what it took to establish a homestead. Throughout the week, campers will learn candle dipping, blacksmithing, sewing, woodstove cooking and tin punching. They will also take horse-drawn carriage rides, visit the sawmill and go on nature hikes.

June 27-July 1 & July 18-22: Nature Explorer Summer Camp

It’s time to get wild! Explore the Wade House grounds and hike its hidden trails. Campers will see unique animals up close, learn about native plants, spot turtles in the mill pond, fish off the dam, identify animal tracks, and learn animal calls. You’ll even get to build bat boxes and other animal habitats.

July 11-15: Civil War Summer Camp

Learn what day-to-day life was like for a civil war soldier. Campers will vote in the 1860 and 1864 elections, enlist in the Union army, be issued soldier’s gear for the week, participate in marching drills, learn to cook over an open fire, and shop in a merchant tent.

Advanced registration is required for all day camps and the cost is $245 per camper. Wisconsin Historical Society Members are eligible to receive a 10% discount and a limited number of comprehensive scholarships are available to help parents in need of financial assistance to cover camp fees. Applications for these scholarships will be available soon.

All summer camp participants will receive a complimentary t-shirt and families will be invited to join their camper on Friday for an end of camp celebration. Click here for more information about Wade House summer camps and other upcoming special experiences.
