Wisconsin Historical Society hires Nicholas Hoffman as administrator of museums and historic sites

Madison, WI. – The Wisconsin Historical Society is pleased to announce that Nicholas Hoffman will be joining the organization as administrator of museums and historic sites starting August 3, 2020. Prior to accepting this position he served in leadership positions at Elkhart County Historical Museum in Bristol, Indiana, History Museum at the Castle in Appleton and he is currently managing director of education and visitor experience at the Missouri Historical Society where he is a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

“Nicholas is an industry leader known for his innovative exhibitions, programs and publications,” said Christian Overland, Ruth and Hartley Barker Director & CEO of the Wisconsin Historical Society. “His community based public history work has been recognized with many awards including the 2018 National Medal for Museum and Library Service, awarded by the Institution for Museum and Library Service to the History Museum at the Castle for highlighting the marginalized history and working with community collaborators.”

Hoffman received a BA in History and an MA in public history from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is a 2018 graduate of the History Leadership Institute. He has over 13 years of museum experience including working at Old World Wisconsin as a research consultant.
