Wisconsin Historical Society to Present the Neville Public Museum with the 2018 Museum Exhibit Award

Green Bay, Wis.  – On Thursday, August 30, 2018, the Wisconsin Historical Society will present the Neville Public Museum with the 2018 Museum Exhibit Award for the exhibit, “Estamos Aqui: Celebrating Latino Identity in Northeast Wisconsin.” This award category recognizes institutions with an annual operating budget exceeding $50,000.

The Neville Public Museum’s exhibit was an excellent candidate for the Museum Exhibit Award this year,” said Christian Overland, Ruth and Hartley Barker Director, Wisconsin Historical Society. “Their project not only reflects professional best practices but also their museum staff and the commitment they have to Green Bay through co-creating with the community.”

This winning exhibition connected the residents of Brown County and Northeastern Wisconsin with the emerging and diverse Latino communities that have settled in the region. The exhibition was developed collaboratively with a committee of engaged Latinos and museum staff members. The exhibit helped to educate our audiences about the contributions, diversity, and growth of the Latino population in northeast Wisconsin.
