January 22, 2018 - Wisconsin Historical Society Hosts First Ever Legis | Wisconsin Historical Society

Madison, Wis. – Volunteer history advocates from across the state will be visiting legislators in the State Capitol on January 24, 2018, to highlight the importance of Wisconsin’s local history and the Wisconsin Historical Society.

“The legislature has been very good to the Society, and it is vital that we thank our lawmakers as we reinforce awareness that our organization is a respected resource for the entire state and is valued in local communities around Wisconsin,” said Ellsworth Brown, Wisconsin Historical Society’s Ruth and Hartley Barker Director. “Our goal is to have history advocates from throughout the state thanking legislators for their support of Wisconsin history and reminding them of the critical role that the Society plays in collecting, preserving, and sharing stories.”

During this inaugural legislative day, local constituents from across the state will convene in Madison and spend the morning and afternoon meeting in small groups with their local representatives. These small group meetings will help highlight the Society’s critical role as the preservers and transmitters of cultural heritage from generation to generation for the State of Wisconsin.
