newspaperman, b. Cincinnati, Ohio. He moved to Wisconsin in 1873, settling in Racine. In 1874 he purchased a one-half interest in the weekly Racine journal, became sole owner in 1876, and in 1881 brought the paper out as a daily. A Republican, Starbuck's editorial policy generally followed the platform of that party. In 1912 he retired from active newspaper work and moved to California. His son, FRANK RAYMOND STARBUCK, b. Racine, began his newspaper career on the journal in 1898, and in 1912 became its general manager. Under his direction, the journal absorbed the Racine News in 1919, was restyled the Journal-News, and in 1932 merged with the Racine Times-Call as the Racine journal-Times. Upon the death of the elder Starbuck in 1929, Frank Raymond became president of the publishing company and executive editor of the newspaper, serving in this capacity until his death.
