Rigaud de Vaudreuil, Philippe de, Marquis de Vaudreuil, c.1643 - 1725
French Musketeer and Governor General of Canada. This long-time Governor of New France (1703-1725)consolidated French power in the Great Lakes region and along the upper Mississippi. A son of his, Pierre de Rigaud de Vaudreuil became the first Canadian-born (and last French) Governor of Canada, while another actively participated in the French and Indian Indian War, François-Pierre de Rigaud de Vaudreuil.
