Potawatomi Indians
members of the Anishinabe confederacy, they entered Wisconsin in the 1650's, and built the village of Mitchigami in Door County as well as about 50 others along southern shores of the Great Lakes; today ca. 1,153 Wisconsin members possess 12,000 acres in Forest Co. while others are located in Kansas.
