Owen, Walter Cecil 1868 - 1934 | Wisconsin Historical Society

lawyer, politician, judge, b. Trenton, Pierce County. He graduated from the Univ. of Wisconsin (L.L.B., 1891). He practiced law in Superior (1891-1898), and in 1898 moved his practice to Maiden Rock, Pierce County. A Progressive Republican, he was elected to the state senate in 1906 to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of James A. Frear (q.v.), was re-elected for a regular term in 1908, and served in the senate from 1907 until 1912. In 1912 he was elected state attorney general, was twice re-elected, and served from Jan., 1913, until his resignation in Jan., 1918. Owen was elected to the state supreme court in 1917, was re-elected in 1927, and served from Jan., 1918, until his death. Who's Who in Amer., 17 (1932); M. M. Quaife, Wis.
