Marchetti, Louis 1846 - 1931
Iawyer, politician, author, b. Vienna, Austria. He migrated to the U.S. and to Wisconsin in 1867, settling first in Mosinee and later in Wausau. He worked in a lumber mill, studied law, and in 1879 was admitted to the bar and set up a law practice in Wausau. A Democrat, he held local political offices, was judge of Marathon County (1881-1893), registrar of the U.S. land office in Wausau (1893-1897), and served two terms as mayor of Wausau. He practiced law in Wausau until his death, and was the author of History of Marathon County, Wisconsin (1913). Proc. State Bar Assoc. Wis., 21 (1931); Wausau Daily Record-Herald, Mar. 14, 1931; Wis.
