Vignetted head and shoulders cabinet card portrait of Peter W. Chantland, a second lieutenant in Company E, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Primrose, Wisconsin. On December 8, 1861, he was enlisted as a first sergeant in Madison, Wisconsin. He was promoted to second lieutenant on April 9, 1862, at Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He resigned on November 11, 1863, because of disability.
