Head and shoulders studio portrait of Oliver Thompson, a second lieutenant in Company A, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in uniform. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20 and 7: He resided in Chicago, Illinois. On November 15, 1861, he commissioned as a second lieutenant and mustered into service on December 20, 1862, in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 25. In May 1862, he was arrested and awaiting sentence. On September 20, 1863, he was killed during the battle at Chickamauga, Georgia.
