Vignetted, quarter-length cabinet card portrait of Hans Hanson, a corporal in Company G, Wisconsin 15th Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Beloit, Wisconsin. On November 22, 1861, he enlisted in Beloit, Wisconsin and was mustered into service on December 13, 1862, in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 29. He was promoted to a corporal on April 25, 1864. During the fighting near New Hope Church, Georgia, he was severely wounded in the leg on May 27, 1864. For the remainder of the war, he spent the time recovering from this wound. He was sent to hospitals in Nashville, Tennessee and New Albany, Indiana. He was mustered out on January 14, 1865, in Madison, Wisconsin.
