Leo Landis

Leo Landis serves as Director of Curatorial Services for the Wisconsin Historical Society, bolstering the organization’s objective to make history accessible, engaging and useful for diverse audiences.   

Landis received a bachelor’s degree in history from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in history from Eastern Illinois University. 

He has a wealth of experience in the field of public history, previously serving in roles at Salisbury House & Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa, Living History Farms in Urbandale, Iowa, the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan, and Conner Prairie in Fishers, Indiana. 

Iowa State University's Department of History recognized Landis with the Outstanding Alumnus award in 2014. An accomplished author, he wrote "Building Better Roads: The Iowa Contribution to Highway Engineering," which received a nomination for the Benjamin Shambaugh Award for Best Book in Iowa History. Landis also developed three displays that earned the American Association for State and Local History's coveted Award of Merit.
