Dr. Amy Rosebrough

Dr. Amy Rosebrough serves as Wisconsin's State Archaeologist, leading the Archaeology Program at the Wisconsin Historical Society within the federally-designated State Historic Preservation Office and overseeing site protection and federal preservation grants statewide. 

Rosebrough received a bachelor’s degree in antiquities from Missouri State University, a master’s degree in anthropology from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville and a master’s degree and doctorate in anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

She has extensive experience in Wisconsin and Midwestern archaeology spanning public, private and educational sectors, and currently spearheads the Wisconsin Lost Coastal Community Project. Rosebrough is an active educator, frequently giving public presentations to share her archaeological knowledge with people of all ages. 

Rosebrough is regarded as a top expert on Wisconsin’s effigy mounds following her continuous commitment to research and field work. She is a steadfast advocate for the preservation and protection of Wisconsin’s archaeological sites. Rosebrough is the co-author of "Indian Mounds of Wisconsin."
