This two story house is displays elements of both Greek Revival and Queen Anne styles. Characteristically Greek Revival in form are the eave returns, which appear in the open gable ends. A bay window, deocrative shingles and a front and rear porch distinguish the Queen Anne influence. The building was constructed with an L-shaped plan configuration with additions, a concrete block exterior, a clapboard and wood shingled exterior, a wood trim and an asphalt shingled multi-gabled and flat roof. The residence is in poor condition. A garage is a related building. Architectural/Engineering Significance: This structure contributes to the significance of the Nathan Strong Park Historic District under Criterion C as an interesting example of a Greek Revival style house tranformed at the turn of the century with extensive late Queen Anne style additions and fenestral alterations. This, like many other of Berlin's pioneer houses, illustrates the desire of the Victorian era homewoners to keep their homesteads up to date by adding fashionalbe features reflecting later architectural trends. At the rear of the house is yet another manifestation of changing times, a fine early 20th century gambrel-roofed garage.
