Hammocks with rain tarps in the tree-shaded Headquarters area of the military camp at Saidor, New Guinea (present day Papua New Guinea). Tents and jeeps are parked in mud. Robert Doyle wrote a caption for this image although it was not published at that time: "Not much like training camps at home is this task force headquarters area at Saidor occupied by 32nd Division soldiers who seized beachhead Jan. 2. Hammocks keep men dry and out of mud. Falling trees are dangerous."
